Savage Foundation Golf Classic raises needed funds for northwest Ohio charities

Progeria CheckMore than 130 golfers competed in the seventh annual Savage Foundation Golf Classic on June 7, 2010 at Sylvania Country Club. While its primary mission was to raise money for non-profit organizations, the golf outing also offered golfers great prizes, delicious food and amazing auction items. Thirty-three sponsored teams, consisting of four golfers each, competed in the tournament. Golfers also enjoyed dinner in the main dining room with Dan Steinberg, Co-President and CEO, serving as emcee.

The Savage Foundation was established by Savage & Associates in 2003 to help support non-profit organizations in the community and to carry on the legacy of philanthropy begun by the company’s late founder, John F. Savage. Six area charities were selected to be beneficiaries of this year’s golf outing. The remaining proceeds will be added to the Savage Foundation trust which also supports philanthropic efforts.

Tim Toland, Co-President and CEO of Savage & Associates, recognized the committee that worked tirelessly to plan and coordinate all of the aspects of this year’s golf outing.  They started planning the 2010 event as early as August 2009. Members of the golf outing committee are already busy working on next year’s event.
