J.R. Toland has been a member of Savage & Associates since 1984.  His area of expertise involves assisting small business owners and corporate executives secure comfortable retirement plans.  He specializes in designing tax-efficient business succession plans and executive benefit plans that attract and retain the best and brightest people.  He helps business owners design a plan for retirement that does not solely rely on the sales of the business, and makes sure that their estate plans are designed to minimize taxes.

Experience & Education

J.R. entered the financial services industry full time upon graduating from The University of Toledo in 1985, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance.  He has received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation along with his Series 6, 7, and 63 securities licenses.  J.R.’s knowledge, experience, and ability have helped him to build a large clientele of small business owners and executives.  His personal skills have earned him the loyalty of a diverse client base.

Personal

J.R. and his wife, Beth, live in Holland, Ohio. They have four children: Nicole, Troy, Hallie, and Scott. J.R. is very active in his children’s lives, including coaching football.  He also strongly believes in giving back to his community.  JR has served his local church as the Fundraising Chairman and was President of the Athletic Board for seven years.  In addition, J.R. has been involved with the mission of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, where he has served on numerous fundraising committees and held the position of Chairman of the Board. Currently J.R. is serving on the Central Catholic High School Board of Directors in Toledo as the Finance Committee Chair.
